Today was one of those days… Woke up this morning after my alarm had been ringing for 5 minutes – I usually ALWAYS wake up at the first beep! I’ve been tossing and turning all night and I just felt like going back to bed. Was kinda cranky at work, tired and had lots to do with no energy to do it. I even tried to get my energy back from one of my favourite morning smoothies which featured raw rhubarb, strawberries and ginger (recipe below), but no such luck. So what does a lady do?
Raw rhubarb, frozen strawberries, banana, a bit of ginger, vanilla powder and some lemon zest. Flax-seeds (not shown) are optional but healthy 🙂
I went home at 4.40 PM which was after 8½ hours of work, but still earlier than when I usually leave. Because I still don’t fully understand this “taking care of myself” business… But I’m working on it 🙂 Then I read some blogs and got inspired by this gorgeous girl to eat some chocolate and celebrate life. And from that inspiration I decided that what better way to get my groove back than to: go for a 5 km run, come home, shower, put on my sweatpants, cook the ultimate comfort food (my grandmother’s pasta penne with bacon and tomato cream sauce), eat it on the couch with my husband and finish of with a cup of tea and a piece of Lindt 70% (hence the inspiration 🙂 )
Happy times accompanied by zen. All those feelings of a not-optimal day at work just disappeared when my feet hit the pavement to the sound of Gwen Stefani – boooya! And as you know, chocolate and cuddling can save any bad day…
